Best BBQ for Winter

Good news… You can enjoy BBQ year round! It may be cold outside, but that doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in some of your favorite BBQ meals. Not sure how? Read on to learn the tricks of the trade about how to make some of the best BBQ you have ever tasted!

There are a few keys to making great BBQ when it is still cold outside.

 

  • Purchase a Grill Pan– For an indoor grilling experience, consider purchasing a grill pan. Grill pans have ridges spaced along the bottom of the pan that will give your food grill marks like a real grill will. It is easy to use; simply attach the grill pan to your stovetop. They range in size and price, but can be found for as low as $15. While a grill pan can not exactly imitate the outdoor grilling experience, you can still achieve a very similar end result. Try finishing off a rack of BBQ ribs on a grill pan. It will make your home smell amazing.

 

  • Brace the Cold– Sometimes the best way to have BBQ year round is to just go out in the cold and make it. However, there are a few differences between grilling in warm weather and grilling in cold weather. For one, remember that it is always going to take longer to grill in cold weather. It will take longer for the grill to get to the correct temperature and it will most likely take your food longer to cook.

 

Use a meat thermometer to make sure your food is at the correct temperature before you pull it off the grill and take it inside. Also, keep the grill lid closed as much as you can. Every time you open up the lid to check on the food or flip it, you are letting all of the heat escape. Lastly, do not ever grill inside a garage or in any enclosed space. While it may be brisk outside, it is extremely dangerous to grill inside. It is a fire hazard to say the least.

 

  • Embrace Alternatives– While the best BBQ is going to come from a grill, sometimes your only option is to use a slow cooker or an oven. A slow cooker is a great choice to cook your meat low and slow. Cooking meat for more than six hours is going to give it that tenderness that we all love. BBQ dishes like brisket, pulled pork and ribs can all be successfully made in a slow cooker. If you don’t have the time to make your BBQ in a slow cooker, consider using an oven. While this is definitely the last resort choice to making BBQ food, it can still be a good substitute.

 

BBQ chicken is a great dish to make in the oven. Make sure to marinate the chicken in some delicious spices. The longer you marinate, the better the chicken is going to taste. Cook your chicken in the oven and be sure to lather it with your favorite BBQ sauce. This is a cheap and easy recipe that will surely satisfy your BBQ cravings.
